About Legacy Foresight

Legacy Foresight is a fast-growing research and consultancy business, specialising in providing insight into the UK legacy giving market – which covers the £4bn of income that UK charities receive from gifts in wills each year.  We are looking for an experienced analyst to join the team at Legacy Foresight.

Legacy Foresight works with over 100 well-known British charities and a growing group of Dutch charities, providing benchmarking programmes, consortium research projects, forecasting and consultancy.  Charities we work with include Cancer Research UK, Macmillan, RNLI, RSPCA, and NSPCC as well as many smaller and less high-profile charities.

There are three key areas to the Legacy Foresight business:

Legacy benchmarking

We have a product called Legacy Monitor UK, where we collect quarterly legacy income and bequest data from around 80 charities.  We collect, aggregate and analyse this data every quarter and feed back to charities so that they can understand the latest trends in the market and their performance compared to their peers. The data we collect accounts for almost 50% of the UK legacy market so is an invaluable source of insight to our clients.  In addition to our UK version of this product, we also have a Dutch Legacy Monitor, which collects similar information from a Consortium of Dutch charities.

Legacy income forecasting

We create legacy income forecasts for charities ranging from 5 years to 40 years and incorporate multiple market factors (economy, death rates, attitudes to charitable giving, changes in long-term wealth, population dynamics etc.) as well as charity-specific factors (brand, marketing investment, cause area etc.) We work with around 40 charities for this service – many of whom receive regular forecasts each year.

Research

Our consortium research projects bring together groups of charities to research issues of common interest, enabling them to share costs, information and experiences. These are often rolling programmes which evolve over time, each year building on the findings of the year before.  We run around three of these projects each year and typically include quantitative research, qualitative research and desk research

In April 2020, Legacy Foresight became part of the Legacy Futures group of specialist consultancies, which help charities raise more money through legacy and in-memory giving. Legacy Futures is a team of over 60 people who help charities understand their place in the market, implement strategies to grow their giving and provide practical support to maximise the value of their income. Within the group, Legacy Voice is a strategic fundraising consultancy and Legacy Link provides estate administration services.

We are a ‘virtual’ company, without offices. The current team all work from home on a flexible basis, while communicating frequently through email, Teams calls and face to face meetings in London.
